aeugen – somewhere between contemporary jazz and electronica, multi-instrumentalist Joël Beierer composes fields of tension from introspection and the extensive desire to shout loudly into the world. Lyrical melody lines, pensive soundscapes and rhythmically pulsing cornerstones. Less to lean on, sometimes to indulge in, more for inner ecstasy.
Influenced by the sample aesthetics of electronic music production as well as his passion for Jazz, Beierer works on transposing concepts of electronic music to live contexts and creating a bridge between jazz and club culture. Live loops, noise alienation and synth modelling are equally the tools of the trade here. With Steffen Melch on bass and Mathis Klockow on drums, Beierer found collaborators for the realisation of his visions at the end of 2022 – always accompanied by varying feature guests on lead instruments such as saxophone, flute or trumpet. Live, the three of them form a unit with their guests that is as sensitive as it is powerful, whose playing develops depths that are hard to resist. Somewhere between dance floor and cuddly orgy – definitely the future!
